Software needed to study Chinese Horizon |
- Macromedia Flash Player 6.0 r95 or higher. Recommended 7.0.
- Internet Explorer browser 5.5 or higher. Recommended 6.0.

- Registration
Make sure that you have completed every step in the registration process, and do not use the 'Back' button on your browser, or you may not be able to register successfully.
- Logging in
If you are not able to log in, first make sure you have not put an extra space before your username or password. Also check that 'Caps Lock' on your keyboard is off, and that you are using the correct spelling for your username and password. If you have forgotten either of these, you can request a reminder here.
- Downloading software
Please make sure that you have permission to install new software on your computer. For example, if you are using someone else's home computer with Windows XP, please check with the owner of the computer before you try to install new software. If you are at work, please check with your IT person.
- Browser settings
You can access everything on the Chinese Horizon site using the 'Default' or 'Medium' security settings on your browser . Click on 'Tools' in your web browser, select 'Internet Options', click on the 'Security' tab and select the 'Default' or 'Medium' settings, depending on your version of Windows and Internet Explorer. If you are accessing Chinese Horizon from work, please check with your system administrator to make sure you have permission to adjust the security settings in your browser.
- Audio, Video and Activities
All of the audio and video in the Chinese Horizon School uses Macromedia Flash ®, and the audio files are in MP3 format. If you are not able to hear sounds or see the videos, please check your Browser settings. To install or re-install Flash click here.
- The Record and Playback Tool
This tool is available now, and it's designed to apply to the operation system under Windows 2000,XP, Me and Windows 95 and 98. In other operation system it may not work properly.
- How to Install and Reinstall The CH Recording Tool?
-After opening the lesson page, click on the downloading hint left under the lesson screen, and click next step and follow the instruction to finish downloading the software, and then click Course Overview to refresh the page;
-Then click the record button, the recording tool bar will display on the screen, and it's ready to play.

- Correct display of the characters and character animations
You need to have the Chinese font. To install the Chinese font, click here, then follow the steps below:
- Open 'Control Panel'
- Click on 'Regional and Language Options'
- Click on the tab for 'Advanced'
- In the drop-down list of languages at the top, choose 'Chinese (PRC)'
- Then restart your computer
